# packaging

> Auto-calculate shipment packaging from addresses and items.

## `get_packaging_rules`

Calculates recommended shipment packaging based on the origin and destination addresses plus the line items being shipped.

* **Type:** Read-only
* **Example prompt:** *"What packaging should I use for 4 pallets going from Lake Forest, CA to Dallas, TX?"*

Use this before requesting a quote or booking a shipment if you're not sure how the line items should be packaged.
