Two Skills are available now: Quote and Book and Track and Flag Exceptions. The third starter workflow, Import and Reconcile an Order, is still in development.

What a Skill is

The MCP Server gives your AI client tools: individual actions like tracking, quoting, and booking, documented in Available Tools. Tools answer “what can be called.” They don’t tell the AI client what order to call them in, what to check first, or when to stop and ask you. A Skill is a set of instructions that fills that gap. It teaches the AI client how a FreightPOP expert would do a job: validate addresses before quoting, never guess weights or freight class, show the best three rates instead of all of them, and always confirm before booking anything. You don’t call a Skill by name. Once it’s installed, just ask in plain language (“how much to send 3 pallets to Dallas by Friday?”) and your AI client uses the Skill automatically when it fits.

Available Skills

Quote and Book

Validate addresses, get rates, filter by delivery deadline and carrier, recommend the best option, and book only after you confirm.

Track and Flag Exceptions

Check one or many shipments, sort them into delivered, on track, or needs attention, and draft a carrier follow-up for anything late, stuck, or not picked up.

Quote and Book

Use it when you want to ship something, compare rates, or find the cheapest option that still makes a deadline. What it does:
  1. Asks for anything essential that’s missing (addresses, weight, quantity, ship date) in one message. It won’t guess weights, dimensions, or freight class.
  2. Validates both addresses.
  3. Calculates packaging if you give it products instead of packed pieces.
  4. Gets rates, drops anything that misses your delivery date, and shows the top three with a recommendation.
  5. Shows a booking summary and waits for your yes before creating the shipment.
Example prompts:
  • “How much to send one 500 lb box from Lake Forest to San Jose? Ships 10/9, needs to arrive by 10/15.”
  • “Get me the cheapest LTL rate for 2 pallets to Dallas, but not XPO.”

Track and Flag Exceptions

Use it when you want to know where a shipment is, or check a batch of shipments for problems. What it does:
  1. Figures out what kind of number you gave it (tracking, PRO, shipment ID, or order number).
  2. Pulls tracking in batches of up to 50.
  3. Sorts every shipment into one bucket: Delivered, Not shipped yet, Not picked up, On track, Late, Stuck, Exception, or No data.
  4. Leads with the problems in a short table.
  5. Offers to draft a follow-up email to the carrier. It drafts only; you send it.
Example prompts:
  • “Where is PRO FRTPOP-2200790598?”
  • “Check everything that shipped last week and tell me what’s late.”

Install a Skill in Claude

You need the FreightPOP connector connected first. The Skill tells Claude how to use the connector’s tools; it doesn’t replace them.
1

Create the Skill folder

Create a folder named exactly as the Skill (freightpop-quote-and-book or freightpop-track-exceptions).
2

Add SKILL.md

Inside the folder, create a file named SKILL.md and paste in the Skill’s content from the sections below.
3

Zip the folder

Compress the folder into a .zip file.
4

Upload to Claude

In Claude, go to Settings > Capabilities, find Skills, and upload the .zip file. Make sure the Skill is turned on.
