Quoting

Compare rates and see which carriers are available.

Both quoting tools are read-only. Requesting a quote does not book a shipment or incur charges.

get_rates

Returns rate quotes from available carriers based on origin, destination, and line items (weight, quantity, dimensions, freight class). You can restrict the quote to specific carriers or let it quote everything configured on your account.

• Does not book a shipment. To book, use freightpop_create_shipment.
• Example prompt: “Quote 2 pallets, 400 lbs each, 48x40x48 inches, from Lake Forest, CA to Dallas, TX.”

Each quote comes back with a quote ID and a rate ID. Hand those to freightpop_create_shipment to book the rate you picked.

Not sure how the freight should be packaged? Run get_packaging_rules first. Packaging affects the rates you get back, so quoting with the right packaging gives you more accurate numbers.

get_carriers

Returns the carriers available to your FreightPOP company account, including their services. Ask for your own configured carriers only, or the full list.
